Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism

Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management, offers programme such as Culinary Arts, Hotel Management and many other programmes that will be introduced at later stage, that will provide theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to excel in today's fast growing hospitality and tourism industry.

The lecturers and instructions are from respected industry leaders which gives advantage to the students on sharing of knowledge and industry trends. The faculty method of teachings are not just theory conducted in lecture hall, students in Culinary Arts will get lots of practice in facilities such as a well-furnished kitchen and demo labs. Students in hospitality courses will benefit in getting a unique learning and working environment exposures of full service on-site restaurant and travel and tours agency.

Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management have high aspiration in producing the best quality graduates who are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge of the industry. Hospital and tourism is a fast growing industry therefore students will have high employment opportunity and with the good connection and industry placement; students will easily establish a connection even before they graduate.

Programme Description

The Bachelor in Hospitality Management (Hons) programme is designed to:

• develop students that have strong ethical values, professionalism and personal exemplary habits. Such strength would enable the students to select suitable career path in the hospitality industry.

• produce knowledgeable and highly skilled graduates that meets the industry’s requirement to support the nation’s aspiration on the industry’s development and contributions.hospitality industry.

• ensure graduates are equipped with a positive mindset, right attitude and the creativity to develop new hospitality products.

• equip graduates with entrepreneurial orientation and skills so they are well-prepared to be future industry leaders.

• ascertain that graduates are able to perform effectively and ethically and are also culturally sensitive in their specialized area of the industry.



Entry Requirements

• Passed Sijil Tinggi pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with a pass in two (2) subjects or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR

• Passed Diploma (Level 4 KKM) or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR

• Passed Matriculation/ Foundation with minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR

• Other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government

Programme Description

The Bachelor in Tourism Management (Hons.) programme offers students the opportunity to directly link the theoretical knowledge to the practical aspects of a field of study via the project-based learning mode. Under the supervision of experienced academicians and working in teams, the students will be required to explore, investigate and formulate realistic new hospitality products for a selected tourism site. While undergoing the process of information collecting and analysing, they will learn to communicate and interact closely with the community on site, and respecting the diversity of cultures and values of the community. Thus, the programme aims, objectives and learning outcomes will be achievable through the project-based learning system that is incorporated in this bachelor degree programme.

Programme Description

This program provides students with knowledge, skills and experience of kitchen management and operation. It focuses on the general principles of identification of equipments, tools, utensils, food products and ingredients, procedures of hygiene and sanitation, kitchen safety and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point-a preventive system of food control).

This step-by-step module includes vegetable cuts, soups and souces, basic culinary skills, breakfast cookery, Malaysian and internatinoal cuisine. As part of the programme, students have to attend two semesters of industrial training which will help them gain real life experience of kitchen hospitality and develop confidence for entering the work force in the future.

 

Entry Requirements

• Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/ Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokasional (SPMV) with minimum 3 credits in any subject; OR

• Passed O-Level with at least a full pass in 3 subjects; OR

• Passed Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with minimum a Grade B in 3 subjects; OR

• Passed Certificate (MQF Level 3) in related area with at least a CGPA of 2.00; OR

• Passed Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 in related area and passed SPM with minimum a credit in one (1) subject and has undergone strengthening program
(if necessary); OR

• Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with minimum grade C (CGPA 2.00) in one (1) subject; OR

• Passed STAM (maqbul rank); OR

• Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government

Programme Description

This programme entails the teaching of both the knowledge required for becoming hospitality industry personnel and also practical hotel management skills so that students are exposed to real-life experience necessary for their chosen vocation. Students will
learn about challenges and issues faced by the industry.
