44 Foundation students and lecturers from diverse backgrounds to share in the joy of Ramadan.
Putrajaya, 24 March 2024 – The Centre of Foundation Studies at City University Malaysia brought together a vibrant mix of local and international students for a heartwarming event titled “Bazaar & Iftar” at Putrajaya. With 44 students participating — 20 local and 24 international — the event was a celebration of unity, culture, and the spirit of Ramadan.
The students explored the famous Ramadan bazaar, tasted traditional Malaysian delicacies, and shared a unique picnic-style iftar on the grass at Dataran Putrajaya. The weather was kind, the view was spectacular, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and warmth.

Lecturer, Maisara Hasnul Hadi, who coordinate this event, praised the experience:
“The weather was nice, thankful that it was not raining so we all could sit on the grass. Students were also happy exploring the bazaar, picnic place, and mosque (especially international students). So I think, overall the trip was fun — thanks to the cheerful and cooperative students.”
For many international students, it was a chance to deeply connect with Malaysian traditions.
Kapalova Sumeira, a Foundation in Business student, shared:
“The iftar in Putrajaya was one of the nicest iftar evenings I had. That event let us see and be a part of Malaysian culture. The architecture of that city was captivating. Walking in an authentic pasar that opens only during Ramadan left bright and positive memories. I was glad to try some Malaysian cuisine.”

“The iftar at the bazaar was unforgettable! The lively atmosphere and the incredible variety of food made it truly special. I was especially impressed by the view at night when the lights turned on, creating an incredibly cozy and magical ambiance. What also stood out was the amazing hospitality — everyone, both shoppers and vendors, were so welcoming. Huge thanks to everyone who organized this event — it was truly an unforgettable experience!”

The initiative not only allowed students to immerse themselves in Malaysian culture but also built a stronger sense of community between students of diverse backgrounds. It was a beautiful reflection of City University Malaysia’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, meaningful experiences, and cultural appreciation.
