Cyberjaya, 20 March 2025 – City University Malaysia hosted its first-ever Majlis Iftar Ramadan at the newly launched Cyberjaya Campus, bringing together over 450 attendees for an evening of reflection, unity, and celebration.

The event welcomed 300 staff members, over 100 students, and 79 Asnaf Zakat recipients, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere rooted in the values of compassion and togetherness. Guests included prominent figures such as YABhg. Tun Md Raus Sharif, Chancellor of City University, members of the Board of Governors, and senior university leaders.

In his heartfelt address, the Chancellor reflected on the spirit of Ramadan and the strength of the City U community:
“Many of you have balanced fasting with classes, assignments, and responsibilities—demonstrating perseverance and dedication. This determination is what will shape you into the leaders of tomorrow.”
He added,
“Tonight, we are not just sharing a meal—we are strengthening bonds of friendship, respect, and mutual understanding. This is what makes City University more than just a campus. It is a home.”
The Chancellor also wished everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin in advance.

Also speaking at the event was YBhg. Datuk Mohamed Zaini bin Amran, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who praised the university’s journey and its people:
“To get married is easy; being married is not. It requires commitment and understanding—just like building City U from scratch. I am proud of how far we’ve come, and of our founder, YBhg. Datin Rohaidah Shaari.”

He also acknowledged the dedication of senior staff in mentoring younger colleagues and wished all attendees a safe journey for the upcoming Raya celebrations.

The iftar featured a generous buffet, including roasted lambs (kambing golek), followed by congregational prayers and moreh. Spearheaded by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rosnizah binti Shaari and Project Manager Dr. Shajarina binti Hj. Jalaluddin, the event was a meaningful milestone in City U’s history, highlighting unity, gratitude, and growth.
