City University Malaysia Strengthens Hospitality Pathway with IMI Switzerland

City University Malaysia, 12 March 2025 — City University Malaysia and the IMI International Management Institute Switzerland have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), marking a new chapter in international collaboration. This partnership offers City University students access to world-class education and global opportunities through IMI’s distinguished hospitality programmes in Switzerland.

The signing ceremony was held on Wednesday, 12 March 2025, and was officiated by Prof. Dr. Rosnizah Shaari, Vice-Chancellor of City University Malaysia, and Mr. Iulian Virlan, CEO of IMI Switzerland, who joined virtually via online conference. Students and lecturers from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality were present and gained valuable insights into the programme’s benefits.

Among the guests was Mr. Daniel Timothy William, an alumnus of IMI Switzerland and now Club Manager at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur. He shared his study journey at IMI’s international campus, as well as his work experience in luxury hotels across the USA and UAE. His talk gave students a realistic and inspiring view of the hospitality industry, emphasizing professional growth and international job prospects.

Founded in 1991, IMI Switzerland is ranked among the top 20 hospitality schools in the world. In 2023, City University Malaysia partnered with IMI to launch the Accelerated Pathway Programme in Hospitality, providing a streamlined academic route and practical training for students pursuing careers in hospitality.

This collaboration allows Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Hons) students from City U to study in Switzerland during their third year. The programme includes accommodation, language learning support, and an extended internship placement in top-tier Swiss hospitality establishments. Graduates will also be eligible to apply for Switzerland’s Young Professionals Programme, further enhancing their global employability.

This partnership blends academic excellence with hands-on experience, equipping students for leadership roles in the global hospitality industry.
