On 12th of May 2020, City University Malaysia signed the first Online Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Sham Private University (ASPU), Syria to further strengthen the collaboration between the two higher education institutions.

The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. James Nga Chin Lik, Principal and DVC of CITY-U, accompanied by Dean, Faculty of Information Technology, Associate Professor Dr. Shyam Bihari Goyal; Associate Professor Dr. Gamal Sayed Ahmed Khalifa.

On the other hand, Prof Dr. Yasser Houria, the President of ASPU was accompanied by the Dean of Informatics Engineering Faculty Prof Dr. George Karraz;  Dean of Business Administration Faculty: Prof. Rania Zrair; and the Coordinator of Agreement, Assistant Prof. Waseem Alhasan.

Given that the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, this signing event took place at the same time in two different places and live through video conference; CITY-U delegate in Malaysia while ASPU delegate in Syria.

The signing of this MoU and Exchange Agreement between the two institutions symbolizes a partnership which creates an ode to many novel joint research initiatives that produce new synergies and enhance educational value by leaps and bounds for both CITY-U and ASPU in the years ahead. Thus, the memorandum formally acknowledges CITY-U and ASPU’s intentions to collaborate in postgraduate programs, student exchange program, twining programs and academic publication exchange.
