The PAM Annual Architecture Student Works Exhibition (PAASWE) 2024, hosted by City University Malaysia from 2nd to 6th October 2024 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, was a resounding success. This prestigious event brought together Malaysia’s top architectural students, showcasing their innovative ideas, designs, and creative talents. City University students and lecturers made an impressive mark, taking home numerous top awards and cementing the university’s reputation as a hub of architectural excellence.
Convened by Mr Muzamil Mutalib, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment (FOABE) at City University Malaysia, the event highlighted students’ creativity and ability to push the boundaries of architectural design. The Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment (FOABE) is the top-rated faculty at City University, known for its innovative curriculum and focus on real-world applications in architecture. FOABE consistently produces graduates who are well-equipped to meet industry challenges with creativity and technical expertise. The faculty’s excellence was on full display during PAASWE 2024, where City University students won Gold in multiple categories, thanks to their lecturers’ rigorous training and mentorship.
The Booth Competition saw City University’s team claim the Gold Award, showcasing their ability to design creative and functional booths that capture futuristic architectural concepts. In the Student Design Competition (Master Category), Lee Jun Hong secured the Gold Award for his exceptional design, proving his technical and creative mastery. The Student Design Competition (Degree Category) was another success story for the university. Calvin Loh Hoi Men took the Gold Award, followed by Munzir Azman, who earned the Bronze Award in the same category.
City University’s strength in blending tradition with modern design was on display in the Canting Bunting Competition, where the university’s team took home Gold for their innovative approach. The 3D Narrative Competition was yet another highlight, with CityU earning the Gold Award for a groundbreaking project that used 3D technology to create compelling architectural stories. In the Wing Fashion Competition, City University again stood out, claiming Gold for its fusion of fashion and architectural design.
City University’s success at PAASWE 2024 was also attributed to its outstanding mentorship. Ar. Fairuz Mahyudin was awarded Best Mentor in the Master Category for his invaluable guidance, helping students achieve their best work. In the Degree Category, Mr. Muzamil Mutalib was honoured with the Best Mentor award, recognising his unwavering support and leadership, which played a pivotal role in the student’s success.
The outstanding achievements at PAASWE 2024 have further solidified City University’s reputation as a leader in architectural education. The dedication and hard work of its students, guided by expert mentorship, have made this event a milestone in the university’s journey. From innovative designs to culturally rich projects, City University has once again proven its commitment to excellence in architecture.
