City University Malaysia’s Cyberjaya campus was buzzing with excitement on October 23, 2024, as students and staff came together for a memorable costume party. Held in conjunction with both Deepavali and Halloween celebrations, the event brought the campus community together in a colourful blend of cultural and festive fun.
A range of booths, set up by various student clubs, lined the campus walkways, each offering a unique experience for attendees. From popular snack stalls to thrilling game booths and creative service stations, students were spoiled for choice. The clubs, showcasing their entrepreneurial spirit, sold a variety of delicious foods, engaging games, and handy services, adding a lively atmosphere and giving everyone a chance to mingle and enjoy the evening.
One of the highlights of the evening was the costume parade, where participants showcased their creativity with costumes inspired by traditional and modern themes. Some students opted for classic Halloween outfits like vampires, witches, and zombies, while others added a Deepavali-inspired twist, blending cultural attire with Halloween elements.
The parade was followed by a “Best Costume” competition, where the most unique and well-executed outfits were awarded prizes. Contestants eagerly participated, hoping to take home the title of “Best Costume” and win exclusive prizes.
City University’s strength in blending tradition with modern design was on display in the Canting Bunting Competition, where the university’s team took home Gold for their innovative approach. The 3D Narrative Competition was yet another highlight, with CityU earning the Gold Award for a groundbreaking project that used 3D technology to create compelling architectural stories. In the Wing Fashion Competition, City University again stood out, claiming Gold for its fusion of fashion and architectural design.
City University’s success at PAASWE 2024 was also attributed to its outstanding mentorship. Ar. Fairuz Mahyudin was awarded Best Mentor in the Master Category for his invaluable guidance, helping students achieve their best work. In the Degree Category, Mr. Muzamil Mutalib was honoured with the Best Mentor award, recognising his unwavering support and leadership, which played a pivotal role in the student’s success.
To keep the excitement going, the university hosted a movie screening, allowing students to kick back and enjoy a horror film together, adding to the Halloween spirit. The event also featured a karaoke session, where students displayed their vocal talents and sang popular songs, lifting the atmosphere with laughter and applause as friends cheered each other on.
City University Malaysia’s Deepavali and Halloween celebration was a vibrant mix of cultures and fun, reflecting the diversity and inclusivity of the university community. The event provided students a chance to unwind, celebrate traditions, and strengthen bonds with fellow classmates and staff, making it a night to remember.
