Further elaborating, Dr. Rosnizah, who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Services & Sustainability) and Registrar of CityU, mentioned that the private university, established over 40 years ago, has been actively contributing to those in need, including welfare homes, tahfiz schools, and orphanages around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
“We are very grateful to Bank Rakyat for their generous contribution of RM30,000 to the Zakat Trust Fund at our university,” she added.
Last Ramadan, CityU hosted an Iftar event for 110 asnaf students, providing them with meals and support. “Zakat contributions are also distributed to asnaf students at all CityU campuses, including those in Petaling Jaya, Sabah, and Johor Bahru. Therefore, we urge more people to register as Sahabat Zakat CityU, so that more underprivileged university students can be assisted,” she appealed.
The Sahabat Zakat CityU program highlights the university’s dedication to social responsibility and community welfare. By facilitating zakat contributions, CityU not only helps alleviate the financial burdens of its students but also fosters a spirit of collective effort and compassion within the community. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive educational environment where all students, regardless of their financial background, can thrive and achieve their academic goals.
