On July 13, 2024, City University Malaysia, in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), successfully hosted the inaugural session of the “Community Transformation Programme,” which focused on transferring pastry skills to the PJ community. Held at City University Malaysia’s Multipurpose Hall (MPH), the event was a resounding success, filled with learning, creativity, and joy.
The program commenced at 9:30 AM, drawing an enthusiastic crowd eager to learn the art of making Bomboloni, an Italian filled doughnut enjoyed as a snack and dessert. Participants from diverse backgrounds gathered, united by a shared interest in enhancing their culinary skills. The atmosphere was electric with excitement as the session began, led by experienced professionals – Chef Lecturers from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism (FOHAT). These experts guided attendees through the intricate process of Bomboloni making, ensuring everyone could follow along. Throughout the session, participants engaged in hands-on activities, learning essential techniques and secrets to creating delectable pastries. The interactive format allowed everyone to practise and perfect their skills under expert supervision. Laughter and smiles were abundant as participants shared their creations and tips with one another, fostering a true sense of community spirit.

The highlight of the day was the collaborative and supportive environment. Participants not only acquired valuable new skills but also forged new friendships and connections. The joy of creating beautiful and tasty pastries brought everyone together, making the event a memorable experience for all involved. City University Malaysia and MBPJ were thrilled with the positive feedback and the overall success of the initiative. The Community Transformation Programme has proven to be a valuable platform for skill development and community building.
Participants are eagerly anticipating the second session scheduled for July 27, 2024, where they will explore another exciting skill – making Cromboloni, a round-shaped croissant stuffed with rich, creamy fillings.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for their enthusiasm and participation. We look forward to hosting more such transformative events in the future, continuing to empower and uplift our community.
