The Mini Olympic featured an array of sports designed to challenge and entertain participants. Among the highlights were darts and an obstacle course, both of which saw enthusiastic participation and impressive displays of skill. The sports events were meticulously organised to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all competitors, promoting not just athletic prowess but also teamwork and sportsmanship.
Adding to the festive ambiance was a delightful dessert corner that served an assortment of French pastries. Students and attendees indulged in exquisite cream puffs and éclairs, providing a sweet interlude between the high-energy competitions. This culinary offering was a nod to one of the participating countries, France, and was well-received by everyone present.
The event was expertly organised by four interns from the University Institute of Technology Nice Côte d’Azur, France, who were part of the mobility program and had spent two months interning with the CityU’s International Marketing Office (IMO). Ould Ammar Lydia, Laurianne Julien, Sofia Bouamrane, and Lea Boursier played pivotal roles in the planning and execution of the Mini Olympic, showcasing their organisational skills and commitment to fostering international cooperation.

As the day progressed, the competition heated up, culminating in a thrilling award ceremony. France secured the third-place position, demonstrating commendable effort and skill across the various events. Sudan claimed second place, earning accolades for their outstanding performances and close contests. However, it was Uzbekistan that emerged as the champion of the City University Mini Olympic 2024, clinching the top spot with a series of exceptional victories in both the darts and obstacle course events.
The success of the Mini Olympic was a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the participants and the organisers. It not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talents but also strengthened the bonds between different cultures and communities within the university. The event exemplified the spirit of unity and friendly competition, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
City University’s first Mini Olympic was more than just a day of sports; it was a celebration of diversity, talent, and the power of coming together.
