Cyberjaya, 30 April 2025 — City University Malaysia had the great honour of hosting a distinguished delegation from the State of Libya’s Ministry of Higher Education Scholarship Department and Embassy at its newly established Cyberjaya campus. This official visit marks a key milestone in strengthening academic relations and collaborative opportunities between Malaysia and Libya.
The Libyan delegation was led by Dr. Mostafa A. E. Alksher, Deputy Director of the Libyan Ministry of Higher Education Scholarships Department and accompanied by Dr. Aiman Elmahmodi, Academic Attaché at the Embassy of Libya in Malaysia.

They were welcomed by senior members of City University Malaysia’s academic and administrative leadership, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rosnizah Shaari, Deputy Vice Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Norman Chu, Director of Marketing and Business Development Dr. Sara Oshaghi, and Acting Registrar Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Suhelmiey Sobri. Also in attendance were Dr. Hasmawati Binti Mat Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering ; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wei Hui Suan, Dean of Faculty of Education & Liberal Studies; and Dr. Mohd Nurul Hafiz Bin Ibrahim, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Information Technology.

Next, the delegates made a brief stop at the Multipurpose Hall to review end-of-semester projects by IT and Software Engineering students, including projects by the students from Libya. The creativity and technical skill on display were truly inspiring—a testament to the vibrant talent nurtured at City U.

A special meet-and-greet session was held with Libyan students from various cities in Libya currently enrolled at City University Malaysia. The students spoke warmly about their experience, praising the strong academic support, CityU’s multicultural and inclusive environment, and the welcoming spirit of Malaysian culture that made them feel right at home.

Next on the agenda was a guided tour of the campus facilities, led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rosnizah Shaari herself. Delegates visited City University Malaysia state-of-the-art facilities, including cutting-edge computer labs, a biomedical lab & nursing ward, engineering laboratories, a professional-grade podcast and music studio, architecture studio, art gallery, a modern fitness gym, and even a dynamic e-Sports center.
